'PAINTING, FOR ME, IS NOT ONLY MY PASSION, BUT ALSO A NECESSITY!'
I have been in love with art since my childhood, it is my foremost motivation. It is a medium where I try to express my feelings and a moment in which to demonstrate just who I am because I believe the artist projects himself in his work; paints, moulds in a format what he is and what he feels inside. Emotions are translated into painting. Letting them flow, releasing them means to be taken to a point of creativity. A splash of color, a line, the texture, the material, as such, will tell something. It is like soliloquizing or having a dialogue with what one is seeing and creating on the format or support.
For many years I dedicated my work to figurative fantasia expressionism but always found that the strict painted line was constraining my work. Now that my artwork is more abstract I feel more satisfied and free. Step by step I approached the style and I have finally found that which I think to be ideal for the quality and transcendence of my creations. I believe that this vocation is very important. The time one dedicates to researching, studying and experimenting new techniques will result in a higher standard of quality.
Whenever I am facing a blank canvas it is a challenging new adventure. I do not know yet what I will be painting. It is the moment when a thousand queries will come to my mind. It is frightening yet pleasurable. Soon after, I am immersed into the canvas and painting….the dialogue is on, ideas are flowing, emotion is filling my soul. I am being taken to a new dimension. It’s all me: the painting, the material, the stroke, the splash of color, the rhythm.
What results is an appreciation which follows the progress of the creative work. I will leave that which pleases me and what I am not satisfied with will be transformed into a new effect. Finally, when I feel that the artwork is ready, there is a different emotion; very strong but very short in duration….the anxiety to start a new adventure, a new challenge, a new art piece is imperative.
